Dr. Levi Bryant, professor of philosophy also presented at the “Hello Everything!:  Speculative Realism and Object-Oriented” symposium hosted by UCLA.  He also presented at the “Metaphysics and Things:  New Trends in Speculative Thought” symposium hosted by Claremont Graduate School in California and at the Rocky Mountain Modern Literature Association in Albuquerque.

Sam Tullock, professor of history, published two chapters in A Noble Company: Biographical Essays on Notable Particular-Regular Baptists in America. The chapters are on eighteenth century American Baptists Benjamin Miller, founder of Brown University, and John Hart, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Dr. Linda Denke, professor of nursing, presented “Ethnography of Chronic Pain Experiences of Enlisted Women,” at the Southern Nursing Research Society Conference in Jacksonville, Fla. Dr. Denke also was nominated for the D. Jean Wood Research Award 2011.

Cary Israel, district president, presented "Changing the Face of Community Colleges: Establishing a Design Worthy of Their Merit" at the Texas College & University Facilities Conference at Texas Tech University and "A Different Approach for Resource Development" at the International Conference of Hebrew Free Loans in Dallas. He also spoke at the Conner Harrington Republican Women's Club, Plano Chamber women's Division Luncheon, Junior/Community College Student Personnel Association of Texas, the McKinney Chamber of Commerce State of the Community, McKinney Retired Old Men Eating Out (ROMEO), the Plano Chamber of Commerce's "Plano First," Leadership Plano, McKinney Rotary Club and the Rotary International District Meeting.

Terry Hockenbrough, director of the Center for Scholarly and Civic Engagement, presented "Best Practices in Service Learning" during faculty workshops at the New York City College of Technology in New York Sept. 24. Hockenbrough also presented at the National Society for Experiential Education Conference in October in Charlotte. Her presentation was titled "Designing Service Learning Projects."
