One group chose to raise funds for Alley’s House, a local nonprofit corporation created to empower teen mothers and their children through support, education and mentoring. The class raised $782 that will be used to purchase gift cards for use as incentives for the program’s teen moms.

The Committee on the Collin Community of the Faculty Council collected 344 T-shirts and 64 pairs of used athletic shoes during its Preston Ridge Campus Shoe and T-Shirt Drive benefitting the Shoe Bank, an organization that provides shoes to people in need through homeless shelters, service organizations and hospitals, and Open Arms, an organization that assists women refugees in America by employing them at a living wage and uses the repurposed T-shirts to create one-of-a-kind products.
