The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment is a test that measures competency in reading, writing and mathematics. If you’re not eligible for an exemption or waiver, you are required to take the TSI assessment before enrolling in college.
The TSI test may take three to five hours to complete and is scored immediately after completion.
If you’re below college level in one or more areas of the assessment, you must meet with an academic advisor during your first semester. You must keep in regular contact with an advisor until you are TSI complete in all three areas.
Click here for a list of college and community resources.
Taking the pre-test will help determine what type of course or intervention will best meet your needs and to assist you in becoming better prepared for college-level course work.
TSI testing is limited to COLLIN COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY. A student must have completed an application for admission and have received a campus wide ID prior to making payment for the TSI assessment.
See an Academic Advisor to obtain a Testing Referral Form for the appropriate portions of the TSI Assessment.
Pay online here or go to the Cashier's Office at any campus for payment of the appropriate fee. If a partial exemption exists, a Testing Referral Form must accompany your receipt. (NOTE: The Cashier's Office is not open on Saturdays.)
Your referral form (if partial exemption exists), your receipt for payment, along with the Pre-Assessment Activity Certificate of Completion, should then be taken to any of the three campus Testing Centers listed below.
