Collin College Auteur Film Series Presents "A Star is Born"

Collin College’s Auteur Film Series concludes its Spring 2024 lineup with A Star is Born at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, at the Angelika Film Center – Plano. The screening and subsequent panel discussion are free and open to the public.

Following this year’s film series theme, “Nothing New Under the Sun: Remixes and Remakes,” Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper star in a remake of a tale about a young singer’s meteoric rise to stardom and the fading star who helps her reach those heights. The original 1937 film has been remade three times – 1954, 1976, and 2018 – and continues to capture the imagination.

The Auteur Film Series presents classic, foreign, and independent films with brief educational introductions before the screenings and faculty-led panel discussions afterward. The film series is designed to challenge the viewer’s intellect and encourage conversations that engage students in civil discourse. This showing is co-sponsored by Quest, Collin College's Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Research Journal.

The films will all be shown at 7 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before each film begins, and seating is limited. Some material may not be suitable for all audiences.
