Physical Therapist Assistant Selective Admission Process
Admission into the Collin College PTA Program is a selective admission process. Applying to the college or the program does not guarantee admission.
The following must be addressed before applying:
- Applied and Admitted to Collin College
- Attended a PTA ZOOM Info Session
If the above has not been completed, the student will not be considered for admission to the PTA Program.
Application scores will be based on the following criteria:
- 3 letters of recommendation (2 from PT/PTA).
- Completed 20 hours of observation/work experience:
Additional points rewarded for 30 and 40 hours. - Prerequisite GPA.
- ATI TEAS Scores.
- Previous Degree:
A previous degree is not required, but extra points will be rewarded for completing a previous degree as noted on the official transcripts uploaded. - Completion of Rehab Aide Occupational Skills Award.
Completion of the Rehab Aide OSA is not required, but additional points will be rewarded for completion. - Based on the above scoring, the top applicants will be selected to participate in an on-site interview and on-site writing activity. The points from these activities will be added to the previous point total to determine the total points.

The top 24 applicants with the highest points will be offered spots in the PTA Program.
The next ten with the highest score (25-34) will be on the alternate list. If any
of the top 24 applicants decline a spot in the program, the top scorer on the alternate
list will be offered a position in the admission cohort.
In the event of a tie in the final rankings, the following reference points will be
used as tie breakers for the final selection:
1st - ATI Human Anatomy and Physiology score
2nd- Completion of the Rehab Aide OSA
3rd- Interview score
