There is a little something for everyone this summer at Collin College. Middle and high school students interested in nursing, robotics, music, dance, SAT/ACT preparation and have a lot of options on camps. Here are some of the camps offered by Collin College.   • ACT Preparation
    Tuesdays/Thursdays, July 10-Aug. 9

    Central Park Campus, 2200 W. University Drive in McKinney

    Review the English & writing, reading, math and science portions of the ACT Exam. Learn test taking strategies and subject study skills necessary to achieve the ACT score you are aiming for!   • Collin Summer Dance Festival 2018
    Monday-Friday, July 9-13

    Preston Ridge Campus, 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco, Dance Studio LC104

    The eighth annual Collin Summer Dance Festival is for beginners or advanced dancers, 14 years old and up, and features workshops in modern, ballet, jazz, salsa, contemporary, musical theatre, hip-hop, dance improvisation and more. The cost is $125 for early registration paid by May 14 or $150 if paid between May 15-June 29. Late registration is $175 on June 30 or after, may include limitations and is subject to the festival coordinator's permission. The Summer Dance Festival Space is limited. Refunds may be given up to two weeks prior to the festival start date. Any requests made after that time will be charged a refund fee of $25.   • Crime Scene Investigation Camp
    Choose from one of the following sessions:

    Monday-Thursday, June 11-14, 1-4 p.m., and
    Monday-Thursday, June 25-28, 1-4 p.m.

    Preston Ridge Campus, J Building Foyer, 9700 Wade Blvd.,

    Participants will learn the forensic science behind crime scene investigation throughout Texas. Sessions cover topics like fingerprints, blood evidence, DNA, shoe and tire impressions, search procedures, interviewing and more. Campers will also participate in Crime Scene/Mystery Sessions with mock crime scenes where students will collect evidence and help solve the crimes. Each session and sample scene is age appropriate and challenging. Campers entering ninth through 12th grade are eligible to attend. The cost is $100 per participant.   • Culinary Camp

    Calling all teenage foodies! Students between 7th-10th grades will learn techniques from a chef in a commercial kitchen. Cost is $149 and includes a hat, apron and food. In this hands-on class students will learn various culinary techniques. Each student can invite two guests to a culinary event featuring delicious student creations. Registration opens April 15.   • CyberSecurity Camp (Co-ed)
    Wednesday-Friday, June 13-15; 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

    Preston Ridge Campus Conference Center, 9700 Wade Boulevard in Frisco

    Want to know how hackers break into computers? Like to play with computers and electronics? Students between 7th-12th grades will learn how people hack into computers and how to protect computer systems. These camps are sponsored by State Farm and the Engineering, Technology and Computer Sciences Department. Cost is $99 and includes lunch. Registration opens April 15.   • Nurse Camp

    For students interested in getting an inside look at the nursing profession, Collin College is hosting its free Nurse Camp. Open to students between 8th-12th grades, participants will observe demonstrations and participate in simulations from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Space is limited.   • Pastry Camp

Students between 7th-10th grades will learn techniques from a pastry chef in a commercial kitchen. Cost is $149 and includes a hat, apron and food.   • Robotics Camps
    All Girls Camp: Monday-Friday, July 30-August 3; 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

    Both camps will be held at the Preston Ridge Campus Conference Center, 9700 Wade Boulevard in Frisco.

    Students between 7th-9th grades will stimulate their minds and unleash creativity at the Summer Robotics Camps.     The redesigned SAT Math components feature problems with applications in science, social science, career scenarios and other real-life contexts.   • SMASH Camp

    Find out why learning science is fun. Calling all middle school students for an exciting four, half-day (1-4pm) summer SMASH camp. Students can explore their potential in science/mathematics and learn about topics in biology, chemistry, physics, geology and math with fun, hands-on activities. This camp is designed with an interdisciplinary approach to give students a holistic view of how science works. Students entering grades 7-9 are eligible to attend. Cost is $80.   • Texas All-Star Jazz Camp
    Monday-Friday, July 9-13 (registration/auditions July 8)
    Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano

    The Texas All-Star Jazz Camp features a flurry of daily workshops and rehearsals as musicians learn the world of big band jazz. Camp faculty includes top jazz musicians from around the country, who have played with big names such as Maynard Ferguson, Doc Severinsen, the Metroplexity Big Band and Woody Herman. This summer, TASJC welcomes saxophonist-composer Adam Larson as its guest artist. Students must be at least 13 years old with at least one year of study on their instrument. Cost is $325 with lunch.
