Collin College Respiratory Program Earns Prestigious Award For Two-Consecutive Years
April 28, 2014 – For a second consecutive year, Collin College’s Respiratory Care Program received the Distinguished Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credentialing Success Award from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
Collin College is one of only 49 programs among the country’s 438 that achieved this distinction. CoARC presents the award to recognize a program’s success in inspiring its graduates to achieve their highest educational and professional aspirations and to honor the RRT credential as a standard of professional achievement.
Programs selected for this award must have three or more years of outcomes data, hold accreditation without a progress report, document RRT credentialing success of 90 percent or above and meet or exceed established CoARC thresholds for Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentialing success, attrition and positive job placement.
“Earning this award twice in back-to-back years is a tremendous honor,” said Dr. Sherry Schumann, vice president and provost at the Central Park Campus. “It is directly attributable to the hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence by the faculty, staff, students and leadership of the Respiratory Therapy Program.”
Last year, Collin College respiratory students graduated with a 100 percent pass rate on the state licensure exam. They also had a 94 percent job placement rate.
