Collin College Awards Faculty and Staff
September 2, 2014 – Collin College honored several of its employees recently at its All College Day on Friday, Aug. 15. Dr. Amina El-Ashmawy, professor of chemistry, was named the Full-Time Collin College Professor of the Year. El-Ashmawy, of Prosper, has been a full-time professor at Collin College more than 25 years. She earned her master of science degree Texas A&M University and her doctorate from the University of North Texas. In 2013 she was named as a prestigious American Chemistry Society Fellow. Leah Beck, professor of mathematics, was named the Part-Time Collin College Professor of the Year. Beck, of McKinney, has been with the college for one year and earned her Master of Science degree from Texas Woman's University. Ann Thompson received the full-time Recognition of Service and Excellence (ROSE) award and Betty Correll was given the part-time ROSE award....[MORE]

Collin College Announces The Dignity Initiative
August 27, 2014 – According to the World Health Organization, one in three women will experience physical or sexual violence in her lifetime. Envisioning a future where women are valued and treated with respect in cultures around the world, Collin College will launch The Dignity Initiative in September 2014. Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Increase
August 22, 2014 – The Collin County Community College District will hold two public hearings on a proposal to increase total tax revenues from proper- ties on the tax roll in the preceding tax year by 8.32 percent (percentage by which proposed tax rate exceeds lower of rollback tax rate or effective tax calculated under Chapter 26, Tax Code). Breaking Boundaries Exhibition at Collin College

Collin College Trains Veterans Through Partnerships
August 6, 2014 – Collin College, Hewlett Packard (HP) and Workforce Opportunity Services (WOS) teamed up recently to give a special opportunity to local student veterans interested in cybersecurity. Through the partnership, 13 veterans were recruited and mentored during 10 months of cybersecurity training.
