All new students who want to enroll in ESL credit classes on a credit or noncredit basis must take the ESL Assessment before registering.  The ESL Assessment is limited to one attempt every six months.

ESL Assessments are given on a walk-in basis during windows of availability set by the ESL Coordinator. The assessment must be started at least four hours before closing each day. There is no fee for the ESL Assessment.

The ESL Assessment has three separate parts:
  • A handwritten essay on a given topic.
  • A Reading, Listening and Grammar assessment on the computer.
  • An Oral Assessment arranged with the ESL Coordinator to be given at a later date.

All assessment results will be reviewed at the time of the Oral Assessment with the ESL advisor.
