The Collin College Police Department is committed to transparency and accountability in serving our campus community. This Public Information section provides access to essential resources, including crime logs, safety reports, and procedures for requesting public records in accordance with the Texas Public Information Act. Our goal is to keep students, faculty, staff, and visitors informed and empowered to contribute to a safe and secure environment.

Public Information Requests

The Texas Public Information Act grants the public access to certain college records. In compliance with this law, CCPD provides access to records related solely to law enforcement activities. Requests must follow the official process, and records unrelated to law enforcement will not be released.

Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

Safety and security is a concern for all members of the Collin College community including students, employees, and visitors. In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, 20 U.S.C. § 1092(f) (Clery Act), Collin College prepares and provides the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report to the entire campus community.

Campus Carry

Texas Senate Bill 11 requires the state's public colleges and universities to allow handguns in campus buildings for those with license to carry. This is commonly known as the “Campus Carry” law.

CougarAlerts

When an emergency occurs, the CougarAlert system can send email, text, and voice messages to students and employees within 90 seconds. Alerts are issued for emergencies requiring unscheduled campus or district closures or evacuations, including weather events, power outages, police activity, catastrophes, or hazardous conditions.

Daily Crime Log

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 U.S.C. § 1092(f)) and IACLEA Standard 16.3.3, CCPD publishes a Daily Crime Log to provide timely, public access to crime reports on and around campus. This helps promote awareness, build trust, and support informed decisions about personal safety.

Registered Sex Offenders

To find sex offender information near Collin College, enter the campus zip code in the Texas Public Sex Offender database. Registered sex offenders who are legally required to report must contact Sergeant Martin at cdmartin@collin.edu for compliance instructions. Failure to comply may lead to legal consequences and disciplinary action. For more information, call CCPD at 972.578.5555.
