Frisco Campus Writing Center On Campus Workshop: English Verb Tense Crash Course

Do you know the difference between "I have been studying" and "I had been studying"? What about "I study" versus "I am studying"? English verb tenses express specific information about the timing of events or actions; they are also one of the most difficult parts of the language for learners of English to master. If verb tenses are giving you a headache, join us to learn about tenses that commonly cause problems for non-native—and even native—speakers and writers of English.

Frisco Campus Writing Center Online and On Campus Workshop: Finding Evidence to Support Your Position
Wednesday, February 25, 3-4 p.m.
Your professor has assigned you an argumentative essay or a position paper, and, oh yeah, you have to include evidence from library resources! Do you turn to databases you're familiar with like Academic Search Complete or JSTOR, or do you go straight to Google? How about neither? In this workshop, we will look at three library databases that are tailor-made for argumentative essays and position papers. You will learn how to use them and incorporate the information you find into your paper.

Applying to college? To a job? To a certificate program? To a school club? If you need a letter of recommendation, how do you ask for one? This workshop will give students an idea of standard etiquette when asking for a letter of recommendation, go over samples of questions and questionnaires that professors have used in the past, and allow for practice and participation in requesting letters of recommendation.
