Communication Design

For more than 20 years, the Visual Design department at Collin has offered industry-standard education in the creative service fields of animation, digital video, graphic design and interactive design. All full-time faculty members have industry experience and all associate faculty members are practicing professionals. Current industry practices and standards are a central component of classroom instruction. There is an elective option for the most diligent students to earn credit through local industry internships. Guest speakers from industry are featured on an ongoing basis.

The overall emphasis of the Visual Communication programs is on expanding the student's creative ability, helping them master the technology used by their discipline, and preparing them to become a working professional in their chosen field.

There are three program options in the Visual Communication Department.

Communication Design

Collin's Communication Design program offers two distinct tracks. The Graphic Design track prepares the student for careers in branding, packaging, advertising, commercial art, and visual communication. The User Experience (UX) track prepares students to serve in UX roles across an increasing span of industries and applications (e.g., developing web sites, mobile applications, services, and products).
