Cost of Attendance

The actual costs for tuition and fees plus an allowance for class/lab fees for a Collin College student. The actual costs that a student incurs may vary depending on the student's program of study and their residency status.

The average cost of books and supplies for a typical Collin College student. This does not include unusual costs for special groups of students (e.g., Paramedic or Culinary Arts majors).

A reasonable estimate of what it would cost to live in Collin County while attending school (obtained through actual research on housing costs near each of the 3 main campuses). Actual costs may vary based on location and other individual choices and circumstances. For students living with parents, we only provide the food component of Living Expenses (per regulations).

At Collin College, our published cost of attendance is based on a typical student enrolled full-time (15 hours each semester) for the Fall and Spring semesters. Please note that the student’s Tuition and Fees component is adjusted each semester on the lock date of that semester to reflect the student’s actual tuition and fees.

 

Another factor that can affect a student’s cost of attendance is their residency status (I.e., in-county, out-of-county, out-of-state/country) since Collin College charges separate tuition amounts based on a student’s residency.

A second factor that can affect a student’s cost of attendance is if they are living off campus (E.g., in their own residence, in student housing, etc.) or if they are living with their parents. Generally speaking, students living in their own residence or in student housing have increased living costs as compared to students living at home.

A final factor that can affect a student’s cost of attendance is if their enrollment is less-than-half-time (less than 6 credit hours.) Federal regulations dictate that for students enrolled less-than-half-time, schools are not allowed to include the Miscellaneous component and can choose not to include the Food and Housing component with some limitations. At Collin College, we do not include these two components when students are enrolled less-than-half-time.

 

Standardized costs of attendance are established each year and are applied equally across similar groups of students (for example, all full-time students living off-campus.)
