Veterans Week Activities Planned Throughout District

A collection of pins honoring veterans

During November, Collin College makes it a priority to honor our Collin veterans with an array of activities. The district and the Veterans Resource Centers (VRCs) at each campus will host events to celebrate veterans, Nov. 8-11. Districtwide, the college will display more than 300 American Flags to flow in honor of our Collin College students, faculty, and staff veterans.

Other districtwide Veterans Week events include:

Collin Salutes You Military-connected students are encouraged to stop by the Veterans Resource Center on their campus to pick up a bag full of goodies, including a free t-shirt and commemorative challenge coin.

Collin Honors Them Military-connected students, staff, and faculty who have submitted a photo to theVRC@collin.eduwith a signed release will be featured in a #CollinHonorsThem slide show that will be played at the Veterans Resource Centers during Veterans Week and posted on social media.

Veterans Week Giveaway Military-connected students are encouraged to stop by the Veterans Resource Center on their campus from Nov. 8-12 to fill out a free ticket for the opportunity to win an RTIC cooler with goodies inside.

American Flag Display All campuses have a display of American Flags that are flown in honor of Collin Colleges student, faculty, and staff veterans.

Letter Writing Campaign Collin College students are encouraged to write a letter of gratitude to deployed troops, veterans, and Wounded Heroes. Letter writing stations will be set up all districtwide outside the Veterans Resource Centers. Staff and faculty are encouraged to have their students participate! Letters can be turned into any of the Veterans Resource Center.

LEAD Movie and Veterans Panel Student Engagement and the Veterans Services office will host a special showing of Dunkirk. Students are encouraged to attend and participate in listening to the veterans panel. Be on the lookout for campus times and locations.

The VRCs on each campus connect military-connected students with resources designed to ensure a smooth transition into college and foster academic success. VRCs are available for military-connected students to enjoy the community and have access to computers, printers, and additional resources.
