Student photography comes into focus with “Mosaic: Student Photography Portfolio Exhibition” in The Art Gallery at Collin College from April 29-May 9. The public is invited to attend this free exhibition.

The artists in the exhibition were students in the Photography Portfolio Class in Spring 2024 taught by Collin College Professor Lisa Means. The advanced studio class requires photography students to create a cohesive series of works, preparing them for careers in commercial photography.

In addition to the conceptual and instructional guidance for their collections, Means complemented the coursework with arranged portfolio reviews from five professional advisors in the Dallas area – editors, photographers, and designers – who assisted the students in creating personal websites for their work, advised them on effective use of social media, and collaborated with The Art Gallery at Collin College to curate and install the final photographic works in a formal exhibition.

Student artists in this exhibition include Nicole Bellin, Brad Bonin, Kimberly Catino, Michele Cruz, Emory Eagles, Braxton Garms, Lea Gomez, Katie Lumley, Max Nwanebu, Olivia Olson, Xayla Reed, and Jack Warren.

The gallery is located on Collin College’s Plano Campus, Room A175, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Visit the gallery’s webpage, www.collin.edu/department/artsgallery, for hours.
