Collin College Named "Gold" Military Friendly, Military Spouse Friendly School

Collin College has been named a 2024-25 Military Friendly® School at the Gold rank, as well as a Military Spouse Friendly School. This is the ninth consecutive year the college has been recognized with a Military Friendly designation and the first time it has been recognized at the Gold rank.

“I am thrilled with this recognition for our faculty and staff who work hard to make Collin College a great place for veterans and their families,” said Dr. Neil Matkin, Collin College district president. “We welcome these military-connected students and are eager to help them reach their graduation goals.”

Institutions which earn Military Friendly® School designations have been evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey which measure factors including student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans. 

More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2024-2025 survey with 537 earning special awards for going above the standard. Collin College’s gold designation signifies that its survey score was within 10% of Top 10 schools in its category – Large Community Colleges. 

“Collin College is committed to providing a welcoming academic environment for veterans and military-connected students to achieve their educational goals,” said Alan Pixley, director of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs for Collin College. “We are thankful to be honored for our efforts with these designations and encourage military members and their families to learn about the services we offer.”
