Enrolling more than 60,000 credit and continuing education students, it now offers certification programs in Esthetician, Medical Massage Therapy, Eyelash Extension Specialist, Adult Education Literacy (AEL) and associate degree programs in Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. It will soon offer a Bachelor of Applied Technology in Software Development*.
In 2024, Collin College was awarded more than $2 million from the Texas Workforce Commission to expand adult education and literacy programs across Collin and Rockwall counties. The college’s AEL program provides eligible adults with a free education that enables them to improve their basic skills in areas such as English as a second language, financial literacy, assists with job training or retraining to obtain employment, and offers continuing education to assist with their next level of completion—from a GED to a college degree.
“We are thrilled to offer such a variety of new programs which help serve more students and, ultimately, place more people in the workforce,” said Natalie Greenwell, executive director of grants management. “The AEL pathway is particularly exciting for those who otherwise might not have the opportunity to advance their literacy skills, get their high school equivalency, or attend college.”
