The Associate Degree Nursing program received high praise from Texas Health Resources (THR) Frisco leadership, noting that Collin College graduates are among the best new nurses entering the field. The ICU management highlighted the graduates’ eagerness to learn and their advanced clinical readiness, which streamlines the transition from the classroom to the workforce compared to other programs.

For the 29th consecutive year, the Government Finance Officers Association has awarded Collin College the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending on Aug. 31, 2025. This recognition represents the highest form of acknowledgment in governmental accounting and financial reporting and reflects the college’s commitment to transparency and quality financial management.

The annual Preview Day and Car Meet at the Technical Campus welcomed more than 600 guests last month. Visitors had the chance to view various demonstrations, learn about programs offered on the campus, and meet with industry partners, faculty, staff, and students.

The annual Celina Campus Carnival was held on April 8. This signature event welcomed 1,220 people, including faculty, staff, students, and community members.

The Collision Repair Education Foundation’s Career Fair was hosted at the Technical Campus for the third consecutive year. This event brought industry training and career exploration opportunities from industry representatives for Collin students in the Collision Technology program as well as more than 100 area high school students studying collision repair.

Students from the New Taipei Municipal Jhangshu International Creative Technical High School in Taiwan visited the Technical Campus to explore the education system in Texas. The group of more than 20 students was given a campus tour and a special session with Lab Assistant Roger Hsieh who is from the same town (Jhangshu) as the students.

Frisco Campus Library Reference Associate Caitlyn Hood completed the Post-Master’s Certificate in Evidence-Based Health Science Librarianship at Texas Woman’s University. This professional achievement reflects her commitment to advancing specialized knowledge in evidence-based practice, health information resources, and research support services.

Agriculture Program Director Anne Thornton received the regional United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) “Friend of Conservation” award in Dublin, Texas on May 5. She is also a finalist for the state USDA NRCS award.

Dr. Kristin Lee, manager of academic assistance at the Technical Campus, and Dr. Calee Follins, Dual Credit college and career counselor at the Technical Campus, will be the first Collin College scholars to present at the Achieving the Dream K-College Institute conference this July. Their session, titled “Partnering for Impact: Strengthening Access and Student Supports Across P–12 and Higher Education,” explores how intentional collaboration can move beyond access to create aligned, holistic support systems that promote persistence, completion, and long-term success.

Celina Campus Reference Librarians Angela Whitfield and Kimberly Richardson recently delivered two presentations for the Texas Library Association (TLA). On March 30, they presented “Digital Literacy Gets Smarter: Teaching with AI in Mind” to 60 attendees at the TLA Conference in Houston. Due to high interest, the session was recorded for TLA’s on-demand learning. Additionally, the pair presented “Turning Space into Place: Creative Engagement in College Libraries” for the TLA Free Member Webinar series, drawing 33 live virtual participants.

More than 100 people attended the Farmersville Campus Plant Sale held on April 25, benefitting students through the Ag Excellence Fund. Collin College Agriculture students grew and/or repotted all of the plants that were available for sale as part of their coursework in plant propagation techniques. 

The Celina Campus recently held its second White Paper Project, centered on the theme “The Past Informing the Future.” Four faculty members from various disciplines guided 705 students in writing white papers for the event. First place was awarded to Aurelius Andreyev for “Why Classical Music Still Matters,” while runners-up included Dylan Lawson for “AI and ‘Real Life’” and McKenzie Peel for “Integrating Artificial Intelligence into Modern Education: A Lesson from the Past.”
