For nearly four decades, Pat McAuliff helped shape the future of the Texas fire service, one firefighter at a time.
This spring, Collin College recognized his legacy by dedicating the Pat McAuliff Legacy Hall at the Collin College Public Safety Training Center, honoring his 39 years of leadership as director of Fire Science and chief training officer. The permanent naming celebrates not only his contributions to Collin College but also his lasting influence on firefighter education across the state of Texas.
McAuliff was a committed leader who shaped the vision and development of the Collin College Fire Academy. As program director, he led the academy through the graduation of its first 100 classes, preparing more than 2,100 firefighters to serve communities throughout Texas. However, his career extended far beyond the classroom and engine bay. During his 36-year tenure with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, he helped develop firefighter certification standards and curricula that continue to guide fire departments statewide.
The Pat McAuliff Legacy Hall dedication was marked by a curated collection of memorabilia that tells the story of his long career. The hallway features photographs, awards, class gifts, academy mementos, and personal keepsakes that will remain a permanent fixture of McAuliff’s legacy.
During the dedication, McAuliff delivered a short speech where he shared his deep appreciation for his Collin College family and for everyone who joined in celebrating this milestone. He added that the Collin College Fire Academy is something he is proud to be a part of, and he hopes it continues its commitment to training future emergency responders of high caliber.
