"The Life of DREAMers" - Monday, September 12, 2016.

History Professor Michael Phillips interviewed two experts on American immigration policy. They discussed how immigration influenced this year’s presidential campaign, and the proposed so-called DREAM (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors) Act that would grant conditional residency with a path to permanent residency for undocumented residents who entered the country as children. 

Joining Phillips is longtime award-winning Dallas Morning News columnist Mercedes Olivera, and Ramiro Luna Hinojosa, born in Monterrey, Mexico, who was brought to Oak Cliff, Texas as a child. Hinojosa considers the United States his home country and has devoted his life to activism on behalf of immigrant rights and reform of immigration laws.


"An Evening with Dr. Zan Holmes." Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act -  Monday, September 21, 2015. The event begins at 7pm at the Spring Creek Campus in the Living Legends Conference Center. Collin College District President, Dr. Neil Matkin, will give the welcome address.

Dr. Zan Holmes, retired pastor of St. Luke United Methodist Church located in Dallas, Texas, will speak with author and historian, Dr. Michael Phillips, about life in Texas for African Americans prior to the 1964 Civil Rights Act and 1965 Voting Rights Act.
