The Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI)
The BEI is the governing body that evaluates the ASL skill level of those who want to become certified interpreters in Texas, in order to ensure their proficiency in meaningfully and accurately interpreting ASL to and from English. Passing the BEI exam is required in order to become a certified ASL interpreter in Texas.
