A Collin County judge has dismissed all claims filed against Collin College in a lawsuit filed by Linda Wee, former Director of Workforce and Professional Development within the college’s Continuing Education department. In a victory for the college, the grant of summary judgment effectively dismisses all claims filed by Wee in this long-standing legal dispute.
The lawsuit, initiated in 2022, involved multiple claims filed by Wee against the college. Collin College also filed four counterclaims against Wee after discovering that she taught for another institution while on approved leave from Collin College. The counterclaims were filed by Collin College in an effort to uphold its rights and obligations to its taxpayers. The court did not rule on the four counterclaims for fraud, fraud by non-disclosure, negligent misrepresentation, and money had and received which remain pending.
Collin College has been repeatedly recognized as being among the best employers in higher education and is one of the top-performing community colleges in the State of Texas. Regardless of the eventual outcome of this dispute, Collin College’s core values will guide its path forward. The college not only employs outstanding teaching faculty in a variety of academic disciplines and programs but also excellent employees who strive to deliver on the vision and mission of the college.
