GEOSPATIAL INFORMATION SCIENCE (GIS) MARKETABLE SKILLS
• Collect, compile, analyze and report quantitative and qualitative GIS data, such
as remote sensing, vector, raster and cartographic data for inclusion in maps and
reports using specialized Geographic Information Systems (GIS) application software.
• Select needed information from databases to create maps; edit and process data that
has been collected in the field.
• Produce data layers, maps, tables, or reports, using spatial analysis procedures
and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology, equipment, or software.
• Manage the initiation, development and completion of GIS projects requiring data
collection, data management, analysis, map product development and final report writing
                                 for presentation.
• Keep abreast of developments in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology
by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, continue education, or participating
                                 in professional organizations or conferences.
• Identifying complex Geographic Information Systems (GIS) problems and reviewing
related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
• Express geographic concepts in writing, speaking, and graphically to discipline-specific
                                 and general audiences.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with peers, managers, customers, and
                                 other stakeholders.
• Critically analyze GIS data to develop inferences and reach sound conclusions.
• Work productively with others to achieve group goals. Provide technical expertise
in GIS to clients or users.
