Collin College offers a variety of plans designed to prepare students for a college or university degree. Some options include pursuing an Associate of Arts (AA) or an Associate of Science (AS) or an Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT); completing the General Education Core Certificate; a Field of Study; or beginning coursework in a pre-professional program. Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees and certificates prepare a student for immediate employment. And our new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Bachelor of Applied Technology in Cybersecurity (BAT), or Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Construction Management offer students the opportunity to complete their four year degree at Collin College.

If your career goals include transferring to a 4-year college to complete your education, these transfer programs are for you. Collin College offers many ways to ensure that you are selecting the best classes that will fully apply to your chosen degree.

The Associate of Arts and the Associate of Sciences are the most common degrees students seek at Collin College. If you are planning to finish at a 4-year college but you aren't sure of your direction yet, these might be a good start for you.
A Field of Study is a carefully selected list of courses that will transfer to any public university in Texas and apply toward a degree in that field.

*In July 2020, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) voted to further review the new Field of Study curricula that were scheduled to go into effect in Fall 2020. Collin College has five FOS Certificates that were affected by this action. The THECB action may limit the applicability toward the corresponding majors at state-supported colleges or universities. Students enrolled in one of these Field of Study certificates are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor and/or contact their transfer institution to make sure courses in the certificate will be degree applicable to their bachelor degree at the transfer university.
An Emphasis Area is a list of courses that fit within a discipline and may fulfill requirements for a degree. Since each university might have different coursework, Collin College offers a wide variety of course so you can select the ones that work for your chosen transfer school. Collin College does not offer degrees in these areas so you must check with the college you intend to transfer to for information on the courses they want you to take.
Many Texas colleges have joined together to provide you degree plans that begin at Collin College and are completed at a Texas university. Talk to your adviser for assistance in deciding which of these best fit your interests.
Click here for more information about Pre-Admission partnerships.Certain courses that are not specific to your area of study will be included in your degree plan. These courses help you develop the foundational skills that every employer is looking for in a job candidate.
The Texas Core includes 42 hours of these general education courses and if you complete all of them at Collin College, any public university in the state is required to accept them as your completed core. "Core Complete" will be noted on your transcript when you have completed all courses.
Collin College offers workforce programs to jump-start your career. In some cases you can be prepared to get your first job in less than a year.
Workforce certificates are usually stackable. You can get a certificate then return for a few more courses and all will apply toward your degree. This allows you to continue improving your skills and moving up in your career.
Though these degrees are not intended to transfer to 4-year schools, some universities
are developing programs that will accept this coursework and apply it to a Bachelor’s
degree.

Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Construction Management (New, Fall 2022) The BAS in Construction Management degree will prepare students for advancement within the Construction Management field by teaching successful graduates a wide range of marketable skills including management principles; scheduling, planning and cost estimating for construction projects; behavior of building structures/components; principles of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; project safety; and risk management.
