Department of Music

Welcome Music Students!

The Department of Music Field of Study Program will train you in the skills necessary for successful transfer to a four-year institution in order to complete a baccalaureate degree. We do this by focusing on you as an individual, a member of a team, and a contributor to the community of musicians and music educators.

• As a performer you will learn to present yourself professionally while performing standard music repertoire.
• As a member of a Collin music ensemble, you will learn to work in groups toward a shared musical goal of realizing a public performance of ensemble repertoire.

Ultimately, the Department of Music Program enriches the local and regional community by training skilled musicians as music teachers and by serving as a regional hub of music activities hosting faculty, student and professional recitals as well as supporting other community activities including music festivals and educational organizations.

Advising, Auditions for Lessons and Ensembles

If you are a music major and haven't been advised by a music faculty member for Spring 2024 semester, please email music@collin.edu to get information about music classes and auditions for lessons and ensembles.

Students wanting to audition for lessons and ensembles should contact the director of the ensemble to get specifics on what to prepare. Be ready to play or sing repertoire fitting the ensemble you are auditioning for.

NOTE:  Non-music majors can be in ensembles, too!
