International Concurrent Students

What is a Concurrent applicant?

Concurrent applicants are students on an F-1 visa at an institution and wish to take classes at another institute, while maintaining their status at the original host institution.

 

Important information about concurrent admission:

--Deadline to submit concurrent form is 1 week prior to the start of term.  

--Concurrent student are granted permission to take classes for one term, identified on their approved concurrent form.

--Student can continue as a concurrent student for multiple term, but a new concurrent form must be approved and submitted each semester. 

 

 

Concurrent Enrollment - Inbound

Step 1: Apply

Complete the Collin College Application for Admission  

 

Step 2: Submit Required Documents

Complete the F-1 Applicant Eligibility Questionnaire action item by submitting the following documents through the Collin Applicant Portal

Passport (showing your name, country of origin, and expiration date with a minimum of 6 months validity)

F-1 Visa 

Email / Letter / Form from your college or university indicating that you are eligible to be concurrently enrolled at Collin College, while maintaining your F-1 student status at another school

 

 

Concurrent Enrollment - Outbound (Current Collin College Student)

Step 1: Complete the Request

Complete the F-1 Student: Concurrent Enrollment (Out Bound) request in Workday.

 

Step 2: Register

Following step at the school you are wanting to attend and register for class(es).

 

Step 3: Provide Proof of Enrollment

As soon as you have registered at the other school you must provide proof of registration, showing the number of credits hours.  You must complete this by the 12th day of class. 

Failure to provide proof of enrollment, you SEVIS record is subject to termination due to being out of status, less than full time. 

 

End of the Semester

At the end of the semester, you must bring  to the International Student Office, a copy of your transcript, to show proof of the completed credits taken at the other school.  Immigration requires you to complete a full-time course load, so you must provide us this proof so we can verify to SEVIS you were a full-time student, and therefore in status.

Please have all official transcripts sent to Admissions and Records.
