Student Conduct Office Purpose and Overview

The Student Conduct Office protects the integrity and safety of the Collin College community by ensuring that:

1. The Student Code of Conduct is upheld by the student body;
2. Students are able to learn and faculty are able to teach in a comfortable, safe environment that is free from disruptions;
3. Students are held accountable for their behavior;
4. Students' rights are upheld and Collin College's policies and procedures are followed;
5. The academic integrity of Collin College is maintained; and
6. Students involved in the disciplinary process are treated in a fair and consistent manner.

Students' Rights and Responsibilities

Collin College students are members of an academic community and are expected to abide by the Student Code of Conduct. As stated in the Student Code of Conduct, "Collin College expects its students to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects credit upon the institution they represent" (2023-2024 Collin College Student Handbook, p. 91). Therefore, it is each student's responsibility to be familiar with the Student Code of Conduct, which can be found in the current Collin College Student Handbook. All students are expected to read and comply with the Student Code of Conduct

Student Disciplinary Process

Collin College’s Student Disciplinary Process is an administrative process, not a criminal justice process. The purpose of this process is to assist students with understanding how their behavior may have violated Collin College’s standards or affected the entire academic community. The Student Disciplinary Process is not intended to be adversarial in nature. Rather, the focus is on helping students learn to make responsible decisions and become aware that poor choices have consequences.

To learn more about the Student Disciplinary Process, see the Student Disciplinary Process Flowchart and the Student Code of Conduct located in the current Collin College Student Handbook.

Hazing

Hazing is a criminal violation under Texas law and is prohibited at Collin College, on Collin College property, or while attending Collin College-sponsored activities on or off campus.

Scholastic Dishonesty

Collin College's Core Values include Learning, Academic Excellence, and Integrity. Engaging in scholastic dishonesty deprives students of the opportunity to learn important academic concepts, undermines Collin College's institutional integrity, and devalues students' degrees. Scholastic dishonesty, in any form, is not tolerated at Collin College and will be addressed appropriately through the Student Disciplinary Process.
