Homeschool

To begin the enrollment process, please review the following requirements.
Complete and return all necessary documentation through email.

• High school-level homeschool transcript that shows completion of at least 8th grade (high school transcript will suffice) - upon initial registration
• Verification of homeschool form - upon initial registration
• Permission form - every semester:
  • Permission form - (for students under 16 years of age)
  • Permission form - (for students over 16 years of age)

• Dual Credit students must take courses in the Academic Core, a Workforce Program, or a foreign language course (Ex. SPAN, FREN, ARAB)
• Dual Credit students cannot take developmental level courses, even as a corequisite course.
• Dual Credit students cannot audit courses.
• Dual Credit students cannot take any kinesiology (KINE) courses.

Due to recent changes to the homeschool eligibility requirements in response to the passage of HB 3041 by the Texas Legislature, homeschool students under the age of 16 will follow a different set of procedures for enrollment at Collin College. 

Homeschool students under 16 will be considered entering freshman students and must take the TSIA to establish college readiness or provide proof of an exemption to the TSIA to enroll in concurrent courses that require college readiness. Visit the TSI Applicability and Exemptions page for a list of acceptable exemptions.

Under this recent change, homeschool students will only be considered concurrent students. Courses will still be listed on your Collin College transcript, and these courses will count toward your attempted and/or completed hours. A new permission form is required for homeschool students under the age of 16.
Students who are already TSIA complete only need to submit the new permission form.

Required steps for affected students:

• Become TSIA complete for desired classes (if student has not already taken the TSIA or provided an exemption)
• Submit the new permission form

• At minimum, students must have completed the 8th grade and be in 9th grade or higher to enroll in courses.
• Students under age 14 must meet with a Dual Credit team members for an initial interview
• Students under age 14 must also meet with the Workforce Department Director or Academic Associate Dean for enrolling, if needed.
